Sá sem syndlaus er, kasti fyrsta steininum

Mikið hefur verið rætt um hvað sé skömm og synd samkvæmt biblíunni. Oft eru þetta faríseískar skilgreiningar gamlatestamentsins um hvað er óhreint og hvern skal drepa.

Þegar Jesús kom að mönnum sem voru í þann mund að steina konu er þeir kölluðu synduga, bað hann þá um að hætta. Þegar þeir mótmæltu og bentu á reglur biblíunnar, sagði hann, að við erum öll syndug fyrir Guði. Þegar þeir mótmæltu enn, sagði hann þau orð sem eru titill þessa texta.

Sumir rétttrúnaðarsinnar vilja halda því fram, að sumar syndir eru stærri en aðrar. Samkvæmt neðangreindri skilgreiningu Bibliunnar er allt úr hafinu sem ekki hefur hreistur og ugga, fordæmd viðurstyggð (Lev 11:10, Lev 11:11, Lev 11:12) og ekki er leyfilegt að borða það. Biblían fordæmir skelfisk, rækjur, krabba og humar á sama hátt og hún fordæmir samkynhneigð.

Það er undarlegt til þess að hugsa, að íslenska kirkjan skuli ekki skilja boðskap Krists, þar sem hann stöðvar steinkastið, að við séum öll jafn syndug, hvort sem við blessum skelfiskmáltíð eða hjónaband samkynhneigðra.

9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. bible(KJV) [Lev11:9]

Fræðileg nýtni Carnot hitavéla

Að undanförnu hef ég verið að velta fyrir mér möguleikum á nýtingu takmarkaðra orkuauðlinda á afskekktum stöðum sem hvorki hafa rafmagn eða hitaveitu. Teorían fyrir Carnot hitavélina sýnir svo ekki sé um villst, að verulegan hitamun þarf til að ná fram fræðilegri nýtni, sem í raun er mun hærri en nýtni raunverulegrar vélar. Þá er hættan sú að nýtnin reynist vera neikvæð í raun.

Samkvæmt formúlunni, þarf uþb. 600°K (uþb 300°C) til að fá fræðilega nýtni upp á 50% (1-(300 °K)/(600 °K)).

Þegar verið er að hugsa um jarðhita lægri en 100°C er nýtnin fræðilega séð um 25% en þá er eftir að reikna inn dælur sem taka 30% af nýtninni. Því er þetta neikvætt í raun.
